The roots of the companies of the Den Daas family lie in the brick industry. The Den Daas factories were -and still are - known far and wide. But father Den Daas was a keen sailor and as an entrepreneur saw opportunities in the leisure industry too. So, in the mid-1970s, Dorado Beach opened: a caravan park on the lovely banks of the IJssel. An odd name, until it becomes clear that father Den Daas felt it important for the D of Den Daas and the B of Brick to be incorporated in the name of the park....

After other family members took over the running of the brick factory, there was room for new steps in the leisure sector. What started with a caravan site on the IJssel expanded into what is now Den Daas Recreatie with three full marinas - Marina Muiderzand in Almere, Jachthaven Naarden on Naardermeer and Jachthaven Bruinisse in Zeeland. The lovely location on the IJssel has now become a real ‘El Dorado’ for campers, hikers and nature lovers.

In 2008, Jan Willem Den Daas died. His work was continued by daughter Nanke, who obviously inherited her love for water sports and nature from her father. Under her leadership, the marinas grew in terms of appearance, experience and comfort into very high quality water sports and leisure centres. One thing remained: the ‘family feel’ in the harbours.
